A WorldofGood on eBay!

July 17, 2010

I have been increasingly aware of the availability of more environmentally and economically responsible products, and their increasing availability online. From chocolate, to clothes, to home decorations, if it can be made ethically, there is an increasing market for it. The increasing presence in the media has generated an awareness of where things come from – and people are increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of buying items made at the cost of someone else.

I expected to find such items on eBay, but was pleasantly surprised to find an entire sub-domain dedicated to them! I’ve had a look through, and found some beautiful jewelery, clothes, ornaments, and even musical instruments! Some are a little pricey, but most are really reasonably priced! So pop on over to eBay and check out your ethical bargains today!

What NOT to Sell on eBay?

July 10, 2010

As I talked about in my last post, there are no real restrictions to what you can sell on eBay (other than the illegal, etc, type items). However, there are some things that just won’t sell – 1, because there are a lot of people trying to sell them, and 2, there are other sellers selling them cheaper.

So, before listing your item, make sure you check out who else is selling your items – what condition they are in, what prices they are charging, where they are selling it, etc. If they’ve got a better deal going, it might be worth holding back listing your item. Or in the case of books, dvds, etc (if the seller is a dealer in such items), it might be worth contacting them to see if they wish to list them on your behalf.

What To Sell On eBay?

July 6, 2010

Well, just about anything you want to get rid of really! As the age-old saying goes, “one mans trash is another mans treasure”! And eBay is a perfect example of the types of things people keep before a move or new partner (etc) convinces them to get rid and make space for new stuff.

Over the years that I have seen all sorts on eBay – from promotional Pepsi cans (the whole set with all of Boyzone on them) to broken toys and people’s virginity!

Although certain things would be removed from the site (illegal things, so common sense should tell you if it will get you banned from the site or not!), I do not think there is any real limit to what you can sell – if you have it, chances are someone else might want it too!

So before binning that bag of “junk”, have a look-see on good old eBay, and see if you unwanted items can net you some cash for the summer hols!

Cheryl and Ashley Cole on eBay

March 6, 2010

Everybody knows about the cheat Ashley Cole and the new subject of sex-ting, but is this really going to stick as I have seen some people selling techniques and tips on sex-ting on eBay.

Is there really a skill to this or should you just be yourself and text what your thinking. Do you think this subject should be sold on eBay or do you think that becoming a love rat or cheat should not be sold or taught, as I can only see it becoming a funny but controversial subject.

What are your thoughts people let me know and ill pst the updates.

Real Time PCR

October 8, 2008

So I was trawling eBay the other day looking for weird and wonderful things for my sister as a present as she is a Microbiologist and I have quite a small area of expert-ease to concentrate on, two of the subjects she wants product in are DNA and Real time PCR, now I love shopping on eBay but if you search for DNA it comes up with everything that I don’t understand but if your search for Real Time PCR it comes up with only 1 product the Corbett Roto-Gene 3000 PCR Real-Time DNA Thermal Cycler.

The product in question is currently selling at £7192 its going to be an expensive Christmas this year.

For the less knowledgeable out there like me here is the wikipedia explanation.

“In molecular biology, real-time polymerase chain reaction, also called quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) or kinetic polymerase chain reaction, is a laboratory technique based on the polymerase chain reaction, which is used to amplify and simultaneously quantify a targeted DNA molecule. It enables both detection and quantification (as absolute number of copies or relative amount when normalized to DNA input or additional normalizing genes) of a specific sequence in a DNA sample.”

If anybody else out there has any other good ideas that I can buy from eBay related to Real Time PCR give me a heads up.

eBay scammer gets let off

August 6, 2008

A man from Exeter accused of operating an eBay scam selling copied DVDs and fake perfumes, sometimes Paul Kelly, 41, didn’t even send the items. Mr Kelly set up two eBay accounts registered to his own address (he obviously isn’t as clever as scammers in the past). He used these accounts to sell goods that either he didn’t own or were fake.

The judge ruled that because Mr Kelly was unable to do work (as he is disabled) it would be unfair to fine him or send him to prison and just fined him the £806 costs.

Abuse for sale on eBay

August 6, 2008

In a similarly themed auction to Mondays weird auction, where a guy put a punch in the face for sale on eBay, a seller is offering the ‘unique’ opportunity to be ‘taken down a few pegs’. The seller will send the winner an email insulting him/her and telling them what he really thinks of them. It has been recommended that the winner sends a picture. I assume this is so the sellers job is easier, as he wouldn’t have any idea about the winners lifestyle or features.

Jonas Brothers CDs fetch $200 on eBay

August 4, 2008

The Jonas Brothers, three talented brothers from Wyckoff (in the US) are having their CDs snapped up for $200 on eBay. The trio released a limited edition album last year before shooting to fame this year, with their concert tickets going for up to $2,000. Some people are cashing in on the bands fame who don’t plan to release a new album until later this year and selling the limited edition album, which cost $5 for between $140 and $200.

Alien wood face on eBay

August 1, 2008

dorindalynn, a seller from America has started an auction for what he claims to be the face of an alien on a piece of pine. It seems he is trying to cash in on the back of the recent x-files film hype. Supposedly the image is 100% natural and was ‘created by mother nature’. Once again, as with many of these weird auctions no one has bid- and I’m sure no one will!

Wedding Dress sells for £2.50 on eBay!

July 27, 2008

Emma Dunn from Leicestershire was searching for a wedding dress on the Internet and came across one she liked, however it was priced at £1,500, a bit beyond her budget. She decided that she’d either have to save up or try to find it cheaper and then came across the same dress on eBay with ten minutes left going for £2.50 without a reserve! After an email from the seller, it turned out the dress was going to be made to measure in China and shipped over. The dress arrived after five weeks and Emma was very relieved.

Emma and her partner Paul Worthington tied the knot on 19th July 2008 with 100 friends and family in attendance. The majority of the wedding was purchased from eBay and the wedding cost only £3,000.
