New years day on eBay
January 1, 2009
Happy new year to everyone and lets think, what will the new year bring for eBay and 2009.
I’m hoping something exciting this year happens with eBay and perhaps someone will give it a full over haul and make it have special auctions or the recession will disappear and everyone will start buying all the useless stuff that I don’t want.
I think the tip for 2009 on making cash with eBay, will be, think outside of the box when selling stuff, present it well and monitor your timed competition as your whole auction can go wrong if someone under cuts you for the same product. The sake of 50p on postage can be the deciding factor when it comes to a sale.
Good luck in 2009.
new years resolution
December 31, 2008
With new years eve being today there will be lots of the usual new years resolutions like, get fit, stop biting nails, stop drinking, and the ever present stop smoking.
Last year I found a good way to make cash with eBay, by cashing in on peoples new years resolutions as they always want to do them on the cheap and look for help on eBay.
For instance I sold around 30 books that were to do with slimming last year that I bought at a closing down sale making a tidy profit of £130.
What will your resolution be and I might sell you something to help.
My advice would be if you want to try and sell to the new years resolutions try an easy target like smokers as they always try and give up tomorrow.
Wolrdwide eBay
December 8, 2008
I always try and report on any news that affects eBay not only from the UK but from the rest of the world, as I follow most of the up-to date relevant news, but its not often I look on the appropriate countries eBay sections as I didn’t think there would be much point, how wrong was I?
I noticed all the quick links on eBay at the very bottom of the home page to navigate to any country you want and bid on there auctions.
I managed to go to the french one as my languages are limited and got a little bit to involved, I don’t know if I’m just to competitive and wanted to out bid the french, but once I had established that they would send it to England I bidded on a 6 box of veuve clicquot which is a beautiful champagne which is traditionally known by its orange label or box.
This retails in England at £60 a bottle and I grabbed a bargain by buying this 6 box for £100. I just have to wait and see if they bring it over in a week when they are visiting Britain like they said, but then again I’m not paying anything until they turn up.
The other good thing about veuve clicquot is the case it comes in has now for years been turned into a handbag for women so I might try my hand at this as I have 6 boxes and I can keep one for my misses and auction the rest. Hopefully getting the £100 outlay back.
People will sell anything
December 4, 2008
I have noticed more and more with the recession that people have got a little bit desperate and they are either selling all there rubbish or stuff that only the strangest individual would buy, then again, on the other hand I have noticed that people are trying to raise cash for Christmas presents so they are selling there beloved items which they would not normally sell and as Christmas closes in they are doing this at an alarming rate because I can only assume they are getting desperate for money.
The only reason I have noticed this is every auction I bid on eBay, continually wants a quick sale and offers the product at a buy now cost or will set the auction for 24 hours rather than a week.
So tip of the week go shopping now on eBay and grab yourself a bargain.
Mitsubishi air conditioning
December 1, 2008
So with winter truly settling in and ice and snow falling on a daily basis its time to start thinking out side the box to grab yourself a Christmas or summer bargain. I, as you know if you regularly read this blog, update it with any tips or ways to make cash with eBay, and at this time of year I always start thinking that the best thing I could do it start planning early and look to buy or sell things that are summer related either to make a killing with money or save myself a lot of cash.
One thing the company I work for, have been looking for, and they have asked me to have a nosey at is an air conditioning unit. They want a well known brand and its important they it has a warranty.
One of the well known makes or units is, the Mitsubishi air conditioning SCM45ZG, and there are thousands of different models, styles, sizes and colours.
The trouble you have searching for a Mitsubishi air conditioning units, is they tend to bring every result up, to do with the Mitsubishi cars and trucks which have air units for sale.
If you take your time and trawl through the results you can bag yourself a real bargain.
Why not have a look?
Time to get cosy
December 1, 2008
well I think we can now say that the cold has settled in for the winter & I am one of those people that is still cold with 2 jumpers & 3 pairs of socks!! so decided to have a nosy on eBay for things that might help to keep the cold at bay - I found loads of hot water bottles, lovely scented wheat bags which as well as warming you up, have the added bonus of being infused with essential oils to help ease aches & pains, but my favourite warmer was a luxuriously soft lavender scented pillow - can’t think of anything better to snuggle up with after a long day at work.
The other strange option that I found were these ‘click warmers’ - basically they are like flip flops filled with a gel & a tiny little piece of metal which you have to click to start the heating process. Sounds OK in theory until you realise that every time you want to use them you have to boil them in a pan of water - which all sounds a bit too much like hard work for me! Also I found some lovely knee length cosy slipper socks & even hot water jackets for mugs to keep your hands toasty when you’re having your cocoa. Some great ideas for girly stocking fillers especially the prices you can get them all for on eBay.
Scams on eBay
November 23, 2008
There are plenty of scams on eBay and its difficult to say what they all are and most of the time if you think someone is selling a dream rather than a product it is quite easy to tell, but how do you ever really know?
One thing you can normally rely on is a persons reputation and how many good reputation referrals they have for instance if you search for something like
“LEGALLY CLAIM UK PROPERTIES FOR FREE”
You will find a few sellers claiming they can show you how to do this for £4.75 now I’m very wary of this and think if there are properties out there worth over 6 billion as it claims in the description why isn’t the seller just claiming them all.
But then you check out the reputation of this seller and they have over 3000 good references so is it really true, I am still not convinced and I’m not willing to waste even though its only £4.75 on a possible scam.
In conclusion there is no real way of being positive of who is scamming you but use your gut feeling that normally works.
Top 10 Christmas gifts on ebay
November 19, 2008
So what is in your top ten gifts for Christmas 2008?
Here I go,
1, xbox 360
2, Playstation 3
3, Elmo, tickle me extreme (it always makes an appearance and does well)
4, TV’s
5, Pda, or satnav
6, Socks or Scarfs (annoyingly always make a good amount of sales)
7, Gadgets (normally pointless)
8, PC
9, Car (if you sell at the right time you can make a killing)
10, Clothes
So if you have any of the products above and want to make a bit of cash for Christmas get selling at the start of December at the latest then you have time to catch the Christmas post.
If you have any old clothes that’s normally the way to make a quick sale as people will tend to bid even if they are not sure that they really want the piece of clothing, I have found that when I have sent items people ask if they can return them because they are not sure they like it now they have got it, the funny thing is you shouldn’t have bid on it if you didn’t like it.
Make cash with ebay tips
November 8, 2008
1, Think about what time of day you set you auction live as if you set your auction start time without thinking about it maybe at some random hour of the morning just to get things going its likely that the auction will end at the same hour when realistically you could do with making it end about 8 or 9pm when people are settling down and making there final bids or if younger people will not be in bed.
2, Describe you item in full details, make sure you don’t get hassled with questions about specifications or people asking for photos, which can get very annoying.
3, Special offers, try and make you item different to everyone else as its hard when your selling a generic item like a phone as they are all the same, so throw in it some hits the reserve free postage or a hands free kit etc.
4, Be attentive as if people do ask questions they expect responses as its proven if the seller does not respond in 24 hours the buyer will go else where.
5, Don’t be to greedy as items just wot sell.
6, Sell safely as try and sell to your own country and always use a safe form of transferring money i.e. pay-pal.
Audi tt on eBay
November 6, 2008
So recently I upgraded my car from a old P reg Golf GTI to a beautiful silver Audi TT, I shopped around for months until I found the one I wanted and found a decent enough salesman who I trust to sell me my dream car, the funny thing is the car I traded in is going to end up on eBay and I never thought of selling it myself on eBay as I just didn’t think of it.
I have now started to look into and it seems the lesser cars are napped up for a real bargain or enthusiasts will spend a pretty penny on exactly what they want.
Now when it comes to cars like Audi TT’s you need to spend at least £7k to get a good one and most of them seem to start at about £5k but will sell for over £10k when the auction finally closes.
So my tip would be buy a old car on eBay to get a bargain.
