Selling on eBay: Item Titles
March 17, 2008
The auction title is another important part of selling on eBay. Your title is one of the first things a user sees and a key source of how eBay’s search discovers your listings. To put it simply if you don’t spend time on your title noone will find your items and you won’t make any sales. This article will highlight key parts of the title.
Content
The content of your item title is important, it should contain any key terms (or keywords) that people will search for when looking for your product. There are also abbreviations which are commonly used by eBay users to maximise the 55 characters you get, over the next couple of weeks I’ll be posting articles about eBay Lingo.
Capitalisation
Many eBayers use capitalisation of their item title to try and make it more eye-catching, however in my opinion to have the whole of an item title in capitals looks amateur and will discourage buyers. I tend to list my auctions with the keywords in capital letters.
