eBayer to Get 20 Years.
May 16, 2008
An eBay seller may be sent to jail for 20 years after pleading guilty to the charge of selling pirated software. The SIAA (Software & Information Industry Association) has taken 26 people to court over selling pirated software on eBay so far in 2008. The seller has also been accused of identity theft and mail fraud and could be fined $500,000 (£250,000).
SIAA investigators discovered he had created over 40 fake eBay and PayPal accounts using other people’s bank account details and passed them on to the US Department of Justice. This guy clearly knew how to make cash with eBay, however his methods were dishonest.
