The SIIA (Software and Information Industry Association) has stated it may file a lawsuit for failing to stop piracy on eBay. This announcement follows a successful perfume lawsuit which forced eBay to stop fake designer goods being sold on eBay.
The SIIA claims that eBay has refused to implement measures recommended by the group to halt the availability of pirated software on worlds largest online auction site. The SIIA has in the past only prosecuted individuals, however this announcement signals a move by companies and industries to cutting the problem out at the root, and, in their opinion, the buck stops with eBay.

She decided that she’d either have to save up or try to find it cheaper and then came across the same dress on eBay with ten minutes left going for £2.50 without a reserve! After an email from the seller, it turned out the dress was going to be made to measure in China and shipped over. The dress arrived after five weeks and Emma was very relieved.

Eager iPhone fanatics are bidding frantically to get their hands on the latest iPhone 3G. The phone which is unavailable in 38 states is being bid on in excess of $1,000. Since its launch on 11th July the iPhone has reportedly sold more than one million times. The demand for the iPhone has been so great that even o2 (in the UK) is reporting shortages.
As with many phones on eBay most come “unlocked†so they work with any carrier. I wonder how long it will take Apple to follow recent law suits and try to force eBay to halt these auctions.
