Jetblue eBay Auction

September 12, 2008

Sick of paying high price to fly?

I whats seen as a first for the airline industry, JetBlue Airways Corp. yesterday began a 7 day haul auction on eBay to sell over 300 return flights plus six holiday packages.

Initial bids started at 5 and 10 cents but very rapidly got higher as clients and bidders started making bids. The Forest Hills located company said the offers will run out on Sunday.

JetBlue announced that the sales will include one & two-person return flights from Kennedy Airport – JetBlue’s main home to over 20 destinations, which include Boston, Chicago, Orlando, Salt Lake City, Fort Lauderdale & California.

There will be a wide range of dates but you will need a pay-pal account.

All trips must be used by October the 6th.

To locate this auction go to the Jet blue site and follow the jetblue.com/eBay.

Robert W. Mann Jr., an industry sector specialist said this is a unique first.

This is JetBlues way of getting people to travel at this time of year which is normally really slow for airlines.

Australia no go!!

September 11, 2008

A strange glitch in eBay’s item list system has prohibited auctioneers selling their products to the country of Australia. Buyers and sellers at the the TameBay forum including other users on 4 or 5 eBay message forums and boards have announced that when re-listing products, if they click ship to Australia as an extra option they will get a message saying that they cannot do this unless they accept pay-pal. Strangely all of the sellers always accept pay-pal, so here goes another glitch.

For brand new items to sell, the SYI (sell your item) form has been blacked out in the Australia section and made it non-click-able, even if the pay-pal section is completed.

eBay announced that they are aware of the problem as it has happened before and are working on a really quick solution that doesn’t involve cutting out Australia my guess is they will say offer your product to the globe but I’m not sure I would want to do this after some of my past experiences.

Ghost item questions

September 10, 2008

A weird but strange glitch which i want to call a ghost item glitch, which happened to Jane the demon bead lady. When she was trying to reply to a question from someone who was trying to put a bid in for something she was selling, she got this glitch:

Fist of all it turns out she doesn’t sell men’s flip flops and secondly they are absolutely nothing to do with quartz chip beads which leads me to believe there is a ghost in the system.

I really like the prospect and idea of having an items specifics visible when answering ASQs, it will surely help with all the crazy questions like “how large are those 6mm beads” & “what colour would you say those black jeans are”. But preferably from the products or items I am actually selling so there must be a glitch in the matrix or a ghost in the system.

Perhaps this girl could help?

ebay: How to sell.

September 9, 2008

Its really quite funny how many people don’t understand how to use eBay and even funnier if you try and search eBay for help in the ssearch bar you get thousands of products, books, DVDs, and plenty of other novelty products which claim to show you the way to be a multi millionaire by selling lots of different things on eBay.

There are plenty of stories how these people have literally quit there jobs and taken up full time selling on eBay and there are even claims that its the easiest thing in the world, to con, or get free things that people will want to but on eBay.

I wasn’t so sure so I bought one of these book explaining how to do it and trust me when i say its a complete rip off as the book starts with all the instructions for eBay which you can easily view online on the site, then it rants on about all the usual things anyone or anybody would naturally do.

Simply don’t buy one of these books unless your an idiot but then again I’m guessing if you are you wont be able to buy one anyway so your safe.

London Transport ebay stunt

September 8, 2008

The prestigious London Transport Museum are setting new groundbreaking president’s by auctioning off everything including a tour of the world famous Aldwych Underground Station and the exclusive loan of a a whole Route master bus for a whole evening driving it where ever you want and having as much fun as you can on a bus.

I think the next option would be more fun as You can have lessons to learn to drive a train, or more boring drive a bus in the London Transport simulators, or if you have a business or want to get your name out there how about having a advert on over 120 bus stops in and around the London which is normally worth £80000 but if you bid properly you could get it at a snippet of the cost.

The whole point of the online eBay auctions are to help the London Transports funding of the Museum which really in the long run should help to preserve the history of transport system in London, this will happen and be on eBay from the 5th to the 14th September.

Get bidding people.

eBay assistant dropped

September 7, 2008

eBay.com have released a news update announcing today that as of the 15th of September they will literally drop the Bid Assistant. This was added by eBay sometime in May 2007, Bid Assistant let people mainly buyers to specifically choose a large group of stuff they want to buy, the eBay tool then would start bidding for each product on different turns, then it would automatically move on to the next item if it failed to outbid everyone else.

eBay’s news release says the whole tool has had very little use, which they also said that thought this would happen: as the people who are Internet friendly enough to use the feature have found other methods and better offers with better tools. Bid Assistant has a fatal floor as it doesn’t have the option to bid at the last second to outbid the last bidders. You have to appreciate that eBay couldn’t do this as the whole point of last minute bidding is to the price of sales as cheap as possible. But as you can imagine without this option the tool is pretty pointless.

stella glasses

September 6, 2008

So heres a tip for anyone who wants to make a quick £10 or two.

The stella glass pictured here has been causing a storm on eBay as everyone wants one and they are willing in some cases to pay up to and over £10.

The funny thing is you can buy this glass in a special offer from lots of local supermarkets for a £10 but you get 4 cans of Stella with it so you can drink the beer for free if you sell the glass on eBay for a £10.

As I worship Stella I planning to try this out and make a tidy drunk profit and enjoy every moment.

Anyone else got any hair brain schemes?

If i have to be honest i prefer the Stella glasses below.

eBay Feedback

September 5, 2008

I think it’s about time eBay announced a brand new colour flying star, the reason i say this is because two major sellers have topped the massive one million mark for positive excellent feedback on eBay.

It happened on the 26th of August everydaysource joined the elite group with thier one millionth feedback, and in a close line finish on the 27th accstation jumped over the one million high bar and joined the fun.

The highest feed back you can get is given to you at 100,000 feedback, incidentally only 400 sellers on the globe have reached. The highest amount of feedback points for a UK player is gowingstore with 486,640, not only making them number one in the UK but number 9 in the whole world.

The two companies who have managed to attain this massive amount I take my hat off and congratulate you both its a massive result.

One million stars

eBay Tips

September 4, 2008

One tip I would give any user especially new users to eBay is not to try and sell mobile phones on eBay as it always ends in a lot of hassle.

For instance I have tried to sell three different mobiles on eBay and each time I have received questions from all around the world asking if I an post it abroad. Initially I thought this was quite exciting plus the thought of getting a good sale meant I would have posted it to the moon if necessary, but as it turns out most of the enquiries came from Africa or that region of the world, and what happens when the auction has finished the person who has bought it wont send the money until they have received the phone, and if you do send the phone you will never see a penny as its simply a scam.

The most annoying thing is when you try to sell the product again you have to pay the commission to eBAy and set up a new sale and wait instructing people that you wont send it outside the UK but in the last minute guess what you get another bid from Africa.

This has happened 3 times to myself and I have spent hours sometimes days trying to email eBAy and explain so I don’t have to pay the commission and keep my account but its so labourious.

So a simple tip don’t sell mobile phones on eBay.

You think with all the technology out there that they would set up something so you can only receive bids from a UK I.P address but that’s the future.

eBay uk bans!!!

September 3, 2008

eBay UK is announcing a new policy to the names policy, which will ban ban all URLs & all email addresses which are shown in peoples IDS and Shop titles. URL-which were like IDs were cancelled for most sellers and buyers in November 2001, but as usual there were a few exceptions to certain users who managed to keep there user names there were selling or buying under. Its now revealed that as of October the 2nd 08, allthe people who have got away with it for so long will be now banned.

Any user with a URL which includes their ID/Shop name will have to after it, including any that point back to their eBay listings. Any Website one way links on any title or Shop headers will also be banned, even if they are a click through for users: this will not be seen as a policy change, but it will be seen as an inclusion in the days announcement which will imply that eBay is going to enforce the current existing policy really vigorously. So people listen up all you lot who have been getting away with change it now before eBay clamps down on it and makes you a scape goat with a policy violation.
