Six gilled Shark

December 12, 2008

So last night I had a bet with my misses that I could search eBay and find a result of one product by only using 3 words, she set off doing the same thing and amazing after 3 searches I found one and won a night off the washing up coking and basically everything.

Try it yourself, the words I searched for were “six gilled shark” a rare and unseen shark that lives at 2000 feet below the surface of the ocean and has hardly been seen by anyone, it has six gills compared to the common sharks which have 5, the 6th gill is thought to convert oxygen better at deeper depths.

Its has a longer tail and green reflective eyes to convert light better.

Check it out.

The result that came up was some silver shark teeth.

Christmas holiday on eBay

December 11, 2008

I was wondering whether to get away for Christmas and I never thought of looking on eBay so I tried and looked up the term “holiday” it brought up the usual suspect of wonderful breaks to Disney land and cruises to all wonderful resorts but the best thing I found is a holiday to Rome for 6 nights starting bid £50.

The other good thing that keeps popping up is things like Thomas cook gift vouchers £1000 worth for a starting bid of £500.

There are lots of funny things as well like suitcase scales and travel plugs even tags for cases.

One thing that looks really nice is a voucher for £50 for a stay in a fantastic lighthouse in Somerset, you can buy a loved one the voucher then they have to pay an extra £700 for a 3 day and 2 night sleep in a 3 bedroom amazing circular lighthouse palace which split between 6 people is just over £110 which is a bargain and a really nice different treat.

Why don’t you have a nosey yourself?

Cigarette vending machines

December 10, 2008

With the government proposing that all cigarettes be hidden from view in shops and all Vending machines to be removed in the UK I expect to see lots of different version of cigarette machines floating around eBay, you can at the minute buy the machines on eBay but you will need at least £150 to get an old classic.

Some people have adapted the machines and now they distribute sweets or drinks but to the less experienced its likely if you want to adapt the machines then you will need to use cigarette shaped boxes to vend what ever you choose.

The question is would you but something from a machine that use to distribute cigarettes, I know as a non smoker I don’t think I would but then again if the changes are good enough who will ever know and recycling will help.

Eyebrows on eBay

December 9, 2008

Who would have thought it but my girlfriend said that if you looked on eBay I would find more than one hundred items to bid on under the term eyebrow.

I bet her a full cooked meal and a massage and when I searched for eyebrow, the result was utterly gutting as it came up with over 6000 results.

I have just sat down after cooking a full lasagna and apple pie, unfortunately the deal included that I would also have to wash up and now I’m off to do the second part and give her the massage she wants, I am not betting with her soon about female things again.

I wonder how I can get my own back and make her return the favour??????????

Wolrdwide eBay

December 8, 2008

I always try and report on any news that affects eBay not only from the UK but from the rest of the world, as I follow most of the up-to date relevant news, but its not often I look on the appropriate countries eBay sections as I didn’t think there would be much point, how wrong was I?

I noticed all the quick links on eBay at the very bottom of the home page to navigate to any country you want and bid on there auctions.

I managed to go to the french one as my languages are limited and got a little bit to involved, I don’t know if I’m just to competitive and wanted to out bid the french, but once I had established that they would send it to England I bidded on a 6 box of veuve clicquot which is a beautiful champagne which is traditionally known by its orange label or box.

This retails in England at £60 a bottle and I grabbed a bargain by buying this 6 box for £100. I just have to wait and see if they bring it over in a week when they are visiting Britain like they said, but then again I’m not paying anything until they turn up.

The other good thing about veuve clicquot is the case it comes in has now for years been turned into a handbag for women so I might try my hand at this as I have 6 boxes and I can keep one for my misses and auction the rest. Hopefully getting the £100 outlay back.

Ebay France free bin listing

December 7, 2008

eBay France is now going to be offering free insertion fees but it will be only for this Monday and Tuesday, 8th and 9th December, and it will be for buy it now items that actually offer Pay Pal, this will only happen if the sellers have dispatch time DSRs of 4.5 or over.

The promotion will be open to residents of France only and will apply to all listing fees as normal.

So my tip for tomorrow is if you can get a french IP or you are living in France cash in on your free bin listing. Is there away to change your IP?

Elephant polo on eBay

December 6, 2008

I had never heard of elephant polo and after seeing it on the news in India I was amazed tht when I searched for it there is actually a world elephant polo association and there are tournaments held all over the world every year.

I was even more amazed when I randomly typed the phrase “elephant polo” in to the search bar on eBay and it came up with 20 results.

Have I been hiding in a box or is this sport s big as people are making it out to be?

Also if your are into the sport grab yourself a bragian on eBay.

I have read a bit deeper in to the history of the sport and it was invented in India in 1960 by a Brit who was raising money for the locals and it still raises thousands every year.

Bargain of the year

December 5, 2008

I have kept this quiet because I didn’t want to let anyone steal my bargain but for over a week I have been monitoring a absolute bargain in the fact that someone had misspelled a season ticket for Arsenal football club, there is a waiting list for these of about ten years and as I’m not a Gunners fan I have been trying to get myself a bargain to resell on eBay.

Luckily I got the rest of the season worth of tickets for a measly sum of £20 and that was the reserve. I have just resold this for £150 and I’m happy to say that is my bargain of the year.

Has nyone else managed this or out sold me?

People will sell anything

December 4, 2008

I have noticed more and more with the recession that people have got a little bit desperate and they are either selling all there rubbish or stuff that only the strangest individual would buy, then again, on the other hand I have noticed that people are trying to raise cash for Christmas presents so they are selling there beloved items which they would not normally sell and as Christmas closes in they are doing this at an alarming rate because I can only assume they are getting desperate for money.

The only reason I have noticed this is every auction I bid on eBay, continually wants a quick sale and offers the product at a buy now cost or will set the auction for 24 hours rather than a week.

So tip of the week go shopping now on eBay and grab yourself a bargain.

Futurama on eBay

December 3, 2008

If your a big fan of the Simpson’s your sure to like futurama as is the witty spin off the classic Simpson’s series.

Now there has been over four seasons and you can buy them all on eBay, if your partner likes fun cartoon series this is the one to have for a stocking filler as I have recently found out that the individual series can be picked up for as little as five English pounds which is £15 cheaper than the high street shops.

I now have all the first 3 series and I’m currently bidding on the forth box set but somebody keeps taking the bid over £5 and I lose out but I’m sure if I keep trying all get all for seasons for £20.
