Ideas for the bank holiday

August 31, 2009

One thing people always look forward to are bank holidays but when it actually comes to have the Friday or Monday off people struggle to find things to do, this is why I’m thinking that the traffic online must go up and eBay must get a lot more visitors so why not schedule your auction to finish on these bank holidays so people who cant normally bid will have the chance to buy your product.

Has anyone tried this before let me know because there are not many bank holidays left this year except for Christmas and I’m sure all the online shopping dynamics will change at that time.

Nokia N97 eBay

August 31, 2009

I am getting desperate for a new phone as Vodafone the cheeky scammers tied me into a 18 month contract when they sold me my last up grade without telling me. Granted the phone I got was free and probably to make Vodafone get any profit I would have to be tied in for that long, I just wish they had told me, anyway that’s enough of a rant because I’m thinking of taking things into my own hands and buying the new phone I want from eBay, if I upgrade early I would have to go to a Vodafone store and buy it out right for ~£800 where the sale price on eBay is about £400. So do I take the plunge?

The hat happy hour

August 31, 2009

One of my closest friends runs a local pub which has been hit hard by the recession so he has asked me to come up with novel cheap sales ideas to get people coming in to the pub for a quick spend then hopefully to get them returning. I’m not sure if this will work but I’m going to buy about 50 cheap hats from eBay and call it the hat happy hour. The idea behind it is simple you have to be wearing a hat to get included in the happy hour and cheap drinks and I’m sure it will create a lot of banter and random stories. The photo below is one hat I bought off eBay and the hair is attached.

My girlfriend recently got made redundant and has turned to TV in her time of need, she is watching everything form Jeremy Kyle to eastenders but the stuff she is really enjoying the film channel, she loved the film Green Mile but she has this on DVD. The other day I came in to her laughing her head off as she was loving the film catch me if you can, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio in which he travels the world pretending to be lots of different people in different professions he does fantastic until he becomes a doctor and is nearly sick when he See’s blood and runs off to be sick. Hours of fun!! I’m going to try and buy it for her on eBay.

Golf on eBay

August 19, 2009

I always quite fancied the idea of playing golf, it seems like a really nice way to spend the afternoon, something about being in the outdoors and the elements. Well, I had my first round on a golf course yesterday. My Mum and Dad were playing at a lovely course and needed someone to caddy for them so I stepped up and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It probably helped that it was a glorious day but even so, I think it’s something I might seriously think about taking up properly. So when I got back I started looking at gear, and it turns out it’s a pretty expensive pastime! not only have you got to get the clubs, you’ve also got the kit, shoes etc as I found out that there is definitely a dress code and etiquette when I turned up in my denim shorts and flip flops! For a reasonable set of clubs you’re paying about £1000! but if you have a look on eBay you can pick up some pretty good bargains and get kitted up for about half the cost.

I think I need a bigger club!

Usain Bolts trainers

August 18, 2009

One lucky fan after the world record breaking sprint at the world championships was apparently given Usains Bolts winning trainers, he was doing one of his posses and the lucky little girl said straight out can i have your trainers so the fastest man alive decided to give the girl a treat and handed them over. They have been reportedly making appearances around the net and the value of them has been said to be around £20000. I wonder if we will see them on eBay and how much do you think they will fetch, that’s if the little girl decides to sell them and pay for her college fund.

Gardening on eBay

August 14, 2009

My friend recently bought me some kitchen herbs for the windowsill; some coriander, basil and a chilli plant. I have to say it gave me a bit of inspiration to get my hands dirty and try a bit of gardening. Being someone who loves anything to do with nature, I have always liked the idea of pottering around the garden but since moving into my current house have felt quite restricted only having a small patio to work withbut decided to have a wander round a few garden centres for ideas. Being a bit of an eBay user I thought I would have a look on eBay first but didn’t have much success, but having a look round the garden centres found lots of ideas so my patio is now full of pots brimming with pretty pastol coloured flowers and hanging baskets with strawberry plants. I have officially joined the green finger brigade.

Dogface on eBay

August 13, 2009

Big Brother seems to be like Marmite – you either love it or you hate it, ok I not an absolute addict but I quite like sitting down after a stressful day and watching something mindless that takes no effort to concentrate on and Big Brother ticks that box. I admit that at the start of the series, I do find it a bit boring when you don’t really know any of the characters and everyone is being amicable but a few weeks in, it starts to become pretty good viewing. My favourites at the moment are Siavash, the diplomat, and Dogface (aka Sophie Reade), the busty blonde, who I think both stand a pretty good chance. I bet it will only be a few weeks before you can buy their mugs and coasters on eBay, you can already buy Sophie’s fridge magnets – looks like she’s getting ahead of the game, who said blondes can’t be enterprising, I think she’s definitely going to get the most out of her minute of fame! Dogface to win!

Early Christmas shopping on eBay

August 12, 2009

I am one of the those people that you see on Christmas Eve running around manically with a flushed face laden with bags trying to get the last of my shopping, even though every year I make a promise to myself that I will not put myself through that again and try and get organised and do my Christmas shopping well in advance so I can actually enjoy the pre-Christmas run up without the headache of present shopping and enjoy the festivities on Christmas Day rather than collapsing from exhaustion but this year I think I am actually going to do it. Now I do have friends that swear by doing it in the January sales but I am not going to take it to that extreme, I think August is a good compromise. So I have started having a look on eBay and there is loads of great stuff on there; DVD box sets, vintage jewellery and his and hers fragrances for half the price so not only am I going to have a great Christmas this year but I might have a bit of money to enjoy myself when it gets here too! hurray!

Beauty products on ebay

August 11, 2009

so I have to hold my hands up and admit that pretty much since I was 18 I have been a total product obsessive and seem to be getting worse – anything from spa treatments to the new ultra curling eyelash curlers but when it comes to spending money on them my boyfriend and I tend to differ on where it should come on the list of priorities for the month and can’t understand why I have to buy a £25 moisturiser rather than Tescos own. Anyway after much debate, I said I would try and compromise and try and find the stuff I wanted (sorry needed!) at a cheaper cost on the net. So my first port of call, was eBay, but to be honest I wasn’t expecting to have much success finding the particular brands or lines I wanted, but after a quick search I managed to find pretty much all of the stuff I wanted for a 1/3 of the price – looks like compromise can be a good thing after all, the boyfriends happy and I have more money to spend on the next revolutionary product that comes onto the market! ;)
