eBay fireworks
November 4, 2008
One thing eBay or any other site is not allowed to advertise is fireworks.
The reason behind this is the UK law states that you can not legally advertise any sort of explosives for sale on the net and legally transport them to there destination.
If you google “fireworks” you will see companies trying to find a way round this by advertising themselves on the pay per click links with things like “fire work displays” or “sky lanterns” which is seen as OK but google still frown on this.
The way I have noticed people getting round this on eBay is they are offering remote ignition packs and tempting you to there site that way.
People just be careful as it is illegal to do the following as stated by the local council.
”
- t is now an offence for anyone under 18 to possess fireworks in a public place.
- It is now an offence to use fireworks between 11.00pm and 7.00am.
There are, however, extensions for the following celebrations:
- 5th November - to 12.00 midnight
- Diwali - to 1.00am
- New Year - to 1.00am on 1st January
- Chinese New Year - to 1.00am on the following day
This curfew applies to all places, including gardens and private land.
These requirements arise from the Firework Regulations 2004 and are enforced by the Police.
There is a penalty of up to £5000 or 6 months in prison. On the spot fines can also be issued for breach of the regulations.
It remains an offence for anyone under 18 to purchase fireworks.
Tameside MBC, Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire Service are working together to prevent injury and distress from the misuse of fireworks.
We encourage you to use fireworks safely and with consideration to others in accordance with the law so that the festivities can be enjoyed by everyone. We recommend, in the interests of health and safety that you consider attending an organised public event.”
