eBay shops

I have noticed more and more, eBay users are setting up there own stores or shops on the ever growing site. I am starting to think should I do one myself along the lines of a bric a brac shop that sells everything and see if it converts better than the landing page that eBay automatically gives you, What do you think or have you got first hand experience of this. I have noticed more and more web designers are starting to offer this facility so they will not just offer you web design for your main shop but they will also build you a eBay shop page that you can then sell your products looking like its your actual site? How important do you think this is?
