iPhone 3G Sales on eBay

Eager iPhone fanatics are bidding frantically to get their hands on the latest iPhone 3G. The phone which is unavailable in 38 states is being bid on in excess of $1,000. Since its launch on 11th July the iPhone has reportedly sold more than one million times. The demand for the iPhone has been so great that even o2 (in the UK) is reporting shortages.

As with many phones on eBay most come “unlocked” so they work with any carrier. I wonder how long it will take Apple to follow recent law suits and try to force eBay to halt these auctions.
